Submit News Tips to Chad Kirchner

If you have newsworthy information you'd like to share, I offer several ways for you to securely submit tips. Please read this page carefully to choose the method that best suits your needs.

Per Freedom of the Press Foundation guidelines, this page contains no tracking information, no cookies, and no metadata collection. Your visit here is completely private.

Standard Email Tips

You can send your tips via standard email to [email protected]. Please note that this method is not secure and should not be used for sensitive information. Additionally, this email is not for PR pitches. I read every tip, but I might not always respond to submissions.

Secure Email

If you want an extra layer of security, you can email me at my Proton Mail address: [email protected]. Proton Mail provides end-to-end encryption, ensuring that your email is more secure than standard methods.

To take full advantage of Proton Mail's encryption, the email must come from another encrypted email account, such as Proton Mail. Signing up for Proton Mail is free and easy at https://proton.me/.

OnionShare: The Most Secure Method

For highly sensitive information, you can use OnionShare to send files anonymously. OnionShare operates over the Tor network and is designed to provide the highest level of privacy and security, similar to SecureDrop. OnionShare was created by a founder of the Freedom of the Press Foundation. My OnionShare address is:

http://oa4vm2wu3ms2fhsf23kbslbpq27fajs6dfn2iizyk3sy6lrbaz3logad.onion

To access this, download and install the Tor Browser from https://www.torproject.org/. Open the Tor Browser, copy and paste the OnionShare address above, and follow the instructions to submit your files securely.

Note: This server isn't kept in a data center that could be acessed by others. Because it's kept locally, it doesn't have the uptime guarantee that comes with a data center. I make every possible effort to ensure it's always up. If you attempt to visit the site and it doesn't work, I apologize. Please try again later.

Safety Tips for Submitting Information

The level of security you need depends on what you're sharing and what you're comfortable with. For sensitive or high-stakes information, it’s critical to take additional precautions.

Metadata and Privacy

Before sending any files, it’s essential to remove metadata, which may include information such as your name, location, and the time the file was created. You can use tools like the Metadata Anonymization Toolkit (MAT) or software like ExifTool to scrub metadata from your files.

While I make every effort to remove metadata before publishing any files, it is highly recommended that you take steps to anonymize your files before submission.

Important Disclaimer

No method of communication is completely secure. While I take every precaution to protect your identity and data, you use these methods at your own risk.

Final Note

Your tips are invaluable to my work, and I appreciate your effort to share them. I review every tip, and I thank you for contributing to my mission of uncovering the truth.
